The GX Planning Section is responsible for advancing the development of technologies aimed at promoting decarbonization and the transition from fossil fuels to renewable clean energies.
The section is currently working on the development of decarbonization technologies utilizing properties of serpentinite, as well as carrying out solar power generation business using old mining sites.

Utilizing serpentinite’s property of efficiently absorbing CO2, we have begun the development of negative emission technologies by using serpentinite owned by us. Serpentinite reacts with CO2 to produce carbonates, thereby sequestering CO2. This technique is known as Enhanced Rock Weathering. Under natural conditions, the breakdown of serpentinite and production of carbonates may take decades or even centuries, yet this method dramatically shortens the process to just a few hours.
Starting December 2025, we have launched pilot operations at our Engyoji former mining site, integrating Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology to collect atmospheric CO2 with serpentinite-based carbon sequestration. By developing and establishing serpentinite-based decarbonization technologies, we aim to enter the carbon credit market. We are also conducting research into applications of CO2-sequestered serpentinite, contributing to the global mission of realizing a decarbonized society.

We focused on solar power generation, which requires a relatively short construction-to-operation timeline, participating in mega solar projects which leverage the Feed-in Tarriff (FIT) system for renewable energy. In March 2014, we established a 0.5MW solar facility at the northern section of the former Hidakamura mining site (534, Nishikiyama Hashiratani-ji, Hidakamura, Takaoka-gun, Kochi Prefecture), and in November of the same year, we established another 1MW solar facility at the southern section.

By accumulating knowledge and expertise from our renewable energy operations, we aim to promote the widespread adoption and expansion of natural energy, which is generated by utilizing the power of nature. We will expand our business across solar operations and related services, renewable energy development, and circular economy and recycling businesses.
